The morning commute for those traveling on Interstate 29 was heavily delayed on Tuesday, April 2 when a pedestrian was hit and killed near NW Barry Road.
The Kansas City (Mo.) Police Department responded to the collision around 7 a.m. after a northbound Volvo XC90 struck a pedestrian that was attempting to cross I-29.
A Ford passenger car then rear-ended the Volvo. There were no injuries in that collision.
The deceased was a 30-year old man from Kansas City, but his identity hasn’t been released by KCPD.
I-29 was closed initially and then opened to two lanes before being fully restored almost 1½ hours later.
The driver was released from the scene pending further investigation according to KCPD.
