Platte County defeats Staley on Senior Night

The Pirates didn’t disappoint on senior night as the Platte County girls’ golf team beat Staley at Shiloh Springs Golf Course on Sept. 27.

For the first time in her career, Ella Green earned a medal when she shot a 45. Green was the top Platte County golfer, but Eden Shipp and Bailey Silcott were one stroke behind her.

Shipp and Silcott tied with 46 strokes and Lily Ricketts ended with 52 strokes. Ava Villareal shot a 64, giving the Pirates 189 points opposed to Staley’s 207.

“What a great way to celebrate our senior night with a win over a talented group of competitors,” Platte County head coach Trevor Short said. “We were able to hold it together and produce some respectable scores on the day.”

Next, Platte County will head to Paradise Point for the Smithville Invitational on Sept. 29. The Pirates will then host the Suburban Conference Championships for the Blue Division on Oct. 4.
