The Park Hill South Panthers will look to end the season on a high note.
That’s because the Panthers enter Thursday’s Suburban Red home matchup with Truman on a two-game slide after a pair of close league losses last week.
Park Hill South will have a chance at revenge against Truman after the Panthers dropped a 70-66 result to the Patriots on Friday, Feb. 15 at Truman High School.
Then, the Panthers slipped at Liberty North, 65-61 on Monday, Feb. 19. With the loss, Park Hill South fell to 17-6 overall and 8-3 in league action. Truman (12-11, 4-6) has won four straight contests.
The rematch with Truman will tip at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Riverside.
Park Hill, meanwhile, was in the midst of a three-game losing streak ahead of Tuesday’s Suburban Gold contest with Lee’s Summit West. The result was unavailable at press time.
The Trojans suffered two road losses last week.
Park Hill first fell to Blue Springs 72-52 on Tuesday, Feb. 12, before a 62-57 loss to Lee’s Summit North the next day.
The Trojans’ contest against Blue Springs South scheduled for Friday, Feb. 15 was postponed.
Platte County went 2-1 in games last week, as the Pirates registered victories against Winnetonka, 61-55 on Tuesday, Feb. 12, and Smithville, 59-57 the following day. Platte County suffered an 81-41 defeat to Grandview on Thursday, Feb. 14.
Additionally, the Pirates (6-16) dropped a conference contest to Grain Valley, a 71-43 result for their second straight loss. Platte County is at Benton at 7 p.m. Thursday for its regular-season finale.
DISTRICT OUTLOOK
Platte County opens the Class 4 District 16 tournament as the No. 2 seed, meaning the Pirates receive a bye into the semifinals.
Platte County will face the winner of No. 3 Winnetonka-No. 6 Smithville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
Park Hill South and Park Hill are the top two seeds, respectively, in the Class 5 District 16 tournament at St. Joseph Central High School.
The Trojans open postseason play against No. 3 Staley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Staley won the regular-season meeting 55-42 on Jan. 15.
The Panthers play the Central-Oak Park winner at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Park Hill South beat both Central and Oak Park in the regular season.
