Suburban Conference boys basketball: Park Hill South falls to Liberty North

The Park Hill South Panthers will look to end the season on a high note.

That’s because the Panthers enter Thursday’s Suburban Red home matchup with Truman on a two-game slide after a pair of close league losses last week.

Park Hill South will have a chance at revenge against Truman after the Panthers dropped a 70-66 result to the Patriots on Friday, Feb. 15 at Truman High School.

Then, the Panthers slipped at Liberty North, 65-61 on Monday, Feb. 19. With the loss, Park Hill South fell to 17-6 overall and 8-3 in league action. Truman (12-11, 4-6) has won four straight contests.

The rematch with Truman will tip at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Riverside.

Park Hill, meanwhile, was in the midst of a three-game losing streak ahead of Tuesday’s Suburban Gold contest with Lee’s Summit West. The result was unavailable at press time.

The Trojans suffered two road losses last week.

Park Hill first fell to Blue Springs 72-52 on Tuesday, Feb. 12, before a 62-57 loss to Lee’s Summit North the next day.

The Trojans’ contest against Blue Springs South scheduled for Friday, Feb. 15 was postponed.

Platte County went 2-1 in games last week, as the Pirates registered victories against Winnetonka, 61-55 on Tuesday, Feb. 12, and Smithville, 59-57 the following day. Platte County suffered an 81-41 defeat to Grandview on Thursday, Feb. 14.

Additionally, the Pirates (6-16) dropped a conference contest to Grain Valley, a 71-43 result for their second straight loss. Platte County is at Benton at 7 p.m. Thursday for its regular-season finale.
