Tackling a decades-old traffic problem

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is hosting an in-person public meeting as part of the Interstate 29/Interstate 35/Highway 169 Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study.

The PEL study focuses on the I-29/I-35/Hwy. 169 corridors to develop both short-term and long-term alternatives for highway improvements to address the following:

  • Improving safety for travelers

  • Reducing congestion including heavy truck traffic

  • Addressing pavement and bridge conditions

  • Positioning for future transportation needs

  • MoDOT anticipates incorporating recommendations made as part of the PEL study into future National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

MoDOT is gathering insights about challenges and opportunities within the study area and needs your input. Please join the project team at an open house, public meeting to provide input, ask questions and learn more.

The public meeting will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at Northland Neighborhoods Inc., 5340 Chouteau Trafficway, Kansas City.

The public meeting is located on Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) bus routes and attendees are encouraged to come and go anytime between 4-6 p.m. Following the public meeting, check the project web page for presentation information, a survey and ways to submit comments online.

A virtual on demand meeting will be available online starting Friday, Oct. 28 through Nov. 13. A link will be provided on the web page at modot.org/i-29i-35us-169-corridor-study.
