The Park Hill boys’ soccer team moved on to the Class 4 District 8 Semifinals after defeating St. Joseph’s Central 2-1 in the opening round on Oct. 30.
The Trojans controlled the time of possession in the postseason contest as they had the ball on their side of the field for 64% of the night. Park Hill moved the ball well as it had 266 total passes, with an 80% success rate.
The Trojans scored the first goal of the game when Daniel Lynn found the back of the net in the 17th minute. The Indians responded with a goal of their own shortly after that and the district opponents headed into the break tied 1-1.
Park Hill had 11 total shots and scored another one when James Betz connected with a goal early in the second half. The Trojan defense stepped up and didn’t allow a shot on goal in the second half.
Park Hill entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed and is looking to return to the district championship game with another win. The Trojans are scheduled take on the sixth seed in North Kansas City on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
