There were 300 runners and 41 teams who competed in the KC Classic at Raymore-Peculiar High School on Oct. 2, including the Park Hill South, Park Hill and Platte County boys’ cross-country teams.
Platte County senior Andrew Early ended in 42nd place with a time of 17:07. Jace Trimble finished in 80th place with a time of 17:33 and Andrew Johnson finished in 17:36, earning 85th place.
Kage Audas crossed the finish line with a time of 19:02, followed by Tanner Johnson with a 19:06 time. Benjamin Letcher was the next Pirate to finish when the freshman ended in 19:12 and Anthony Talley finished with a time of 19:21.
Gunnar Robinson was the first Trojan to complete the race when the junior finished in 62nd place with a time of 17:17. Samuel Benson finished with a time of 17:56 for Park Hill’s second place finisher.
The Trojans had three more runners run a sub-19:00, starting with Jakob Johnston in 18:14. Cade Pumill finished with a time of 18:16 and Ben Richenburg ended with a time of 18:51.
The Trojans’ final two runners were Nathan Chen and Kellen Schanz. Chen ran the race in 19:02 and Schanz finished in 19:58.
For Park Hill South, Tanner Clippard was the 88th runner to finish when the sophomore ran a 17:38 time. Aidan Seymour was eight runners behind Clippard when Seymour ended with a time of 17:42.
Samuel Chase ran right under 18:00 with a time of 17:55. Trentyn Gilges finished in 18:14, Zachary Hilzinger finished in 18:41 and Steven Ritchie ended with a time of 18:53.
Platte County finished right ahead of Park Hill South on the day as the Pirates ended in 23rd place with 636 points and the Panthers were in 24th place with 646 points. Park Hill finished in 28th place overall with 688 points.
