The West Platte volleyball team came out on top in the Midway Tournament as the Blue Jays finished in first place on Saturday, Sept. 25.
West Platte’s Arianna Nower had 61 total assists on the day on Sept. 25.
The tournament opened up with a pair of pool play matches when West Platte took on Benton and Midway. The Blue Jays defeated Benton 2-1, but fell 0-3 to Midway ahead of the bracket play.
West Platte’s first round matchup was against Kansas City Lutheran and the Blue Jays won 2-0. The Blue Jays kept rolling through the semi finals as West Platte swept Archie as well.
West Platte advanced to the championship match to take on Prairie View. The Blue Jays dropped one set, but won the other two to take the match 2-1 and win the tournament.
Libby Vandel stuffed the stat sheet as the junior finished the tournament with 36 kills and 10 aces. Lauren Finke ended with 67 digs and Arianna Nower finished with 61 total assists.
