The Park Hill South softball team bounced back from a 10-6 loss to Lee’s Summit on Sept. 23 when the Panther offense erupted for 12 hits and defeated North Kansas City 19-5 on Sept. 27.

North Kansas City scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the second inning and Park Hill South found itself trailing 5-2 early. The Panthers answered with six runs in the ensuing inning to regain the lead, 8-5.

Park Hill South didn’t stop there and scored 11 more runs in the final two innings, including a monstrous 9-run sixth inning. Hadley Uribe was the only Panther with more than two hits as she ended the contest with three hits, including two doubles and three RBIs.

Jolie McMinn and Katelyn Pierce both ended with two hits each, while five Park Hill South players finished with one hit. McMinn added three RBIs and Curtin Todd finished with four RBIs, along with a triple in the contest.

Ava Wilmes and Emalee Taylor were on the mound during Park Hill South’s victory. The Panthers move on to 9-9 on the season and will head to St. Joseph to take on Central on Sept. 29.
