The Lady Pirates have won eight straight matches, including six in the Winnetonka Tournament, as the Platte County volleyball team came in first place in the tournament on Sept. 18.
The Pirates didn’t lose a single set in the tournament, sweeping every single opponent. Platte County’s first three matches were against Barstow, St. Joseph Central and Fort Osage.
After taking down all three in two sets, the Pirates moved on to take St. Pius X and it started off slow in the first set. After trailing early to the Warriors, the Pirates came out on top 30-28 before winning set two, 25-16.
In the semi-finals, Platte County defeated Park Hill by scores of 25-21 and 25-19. Platte County took on Raymore-Peculiar in the championship match and won both sets.
The Pirates took set one with a score of 25-14 and won the second set 25-12 The Pirates have won nine of their last ten matches and have a 15-7 record on the season.
