Two juveniles arrested after shooting threat made against Park Hill South High School

Two juveniles were taken into custody in Platte County Sunday night, Oct. 17 after threatening they would “shoot up” Park Hill South High School.

School was in session on Monday, Oct. 18 with increased police presence according to a notice sent to parents late Sunday.

According to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office, which is still investigating the incident, a student heard a threatening conversation between two other students and told parents.

That student’s parents called authorities, who deemed the threat credible enough to take the suspect students into custody.

“We are grateful to the people in our school community who take any threat seriously and report it immediately to authorities,” said Park Hill South principal Kerrie Herren in a statement to parents.

Those students remained in the custody of the Platte County Juvenile Office in Platte City as of press time.
